Welcome to My Life

It was the week of March 1st, 2010 that I made a decision that will forever change my life.  While sitting in Banff, Alberta in the heart of the Canadian rocky mountains I decided I was not going to spend another day where I didn’t at least in some part start to fulfill a dream.  For me, this dream is to fight in and win a mixed martial arts match.

This may seem absolutely crazy, especially to my close friends and family.  Honestly, it is.  It’s so far removed from my personality, my career, and even my hobbies that this decision has likely come out of no where and really whacked a few people upside the head; and that’s OK.

This is likely to upset my mother, cause me to receive strange looks at work, confuse many, and probably cause people to question our friendships.  Over the course of the next few months, I promise I’ll do my best to try and explain why I’m doing this.  I’m not anticipating people to understand, or even support me.  People put off dreams for years, and frankly this one has an expiry date.  So with that in mind, I’m turning up the heat to maximum.  The time frame:  6 months.

I will study as many different martial arts as possible, with a focus on Boxing, Karate, Taekwondo, Wrestling and lastly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  I intend on hiring various types of trainers, exploring eastern philosophy, and attempting some extreme diet manipulation.  Every action I take I hope to advance me towards my goal.  Finally, in the summer time, I intend on flying to Brazil and training 4 hours per day, 6 days per week in a Jiu-Jitsu studio.

This blog is meant to be a snapshot of my life, both before and throughout this crazy adventure.  I will document my training days, my weight, how I’m feeling, the challenges, and I will spare no details.  I’ll also try to explain how I got to this point, and why I’m doing this.

If you’re here for the first time check out the latest news under Recent Posts, or head over to learn more in the About Me section!  Look for daily updates in the ‘Week 1′, etc categories!  Here we go!
